Since starting work in Utica I've learned that the name Bagg is very historic to Utica and my family. I 've attached a picture of a NYS historic landmark sign that I found in downtown Utica in "Baggs Squre". My family is related to Moses Bagg as follows: Moses Bagg was grandson of Capt John Bagg, married to Hannah Burt, of West Springfield, MA . Moses had a son Daniel, then Dave, Joseph, Abner, Albert and John C. So, I can trace myself back nine generations to Moses Bagg, founder of Utica. John C. Bagg was my great grandfather who was in a partnership that owned cheese factories in the Utica area. He died suddenly and my great grandmother inherited nothing and was left with seven young kids to raise. They all (including my Grandfather Halsey) were sent to the Masonic Home Orphanage in Utica and my Great Grandmother Flora got a job as a house mother at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY. All seven children, when they came of age, moved to Oneonta, NY to be with their mother Flora, who had relocated there.
Here is another picture I took of a building in down
